Personal information privacy policy

Canatal Industries Inc, its affiliates and its subsidiaries (“Canatal”) attach great importance to respect the privacy of their clients, their employees and suppliers. That is why Canatal has implemented this personal information privacy policy (“Policy”) with the aim to govern Canatal’s practices regarding the collection, use and disclosure of personal information.

This Policy refers to how Canatal collects, uses, discloses and protects your personal information.  Our practices regarding the respect of your personal information comply with the Loi sur la Protection des renseignements personnels dans le secteur privé du Québec.  This Policy does not apply to information that does not constitute “personal information” under applicable laws dealing with privacy.

Collection and use of personal information

Canatal may collect personal information from you:

  • When you purchase any of our products or services;
  • When you request information about any of our products and services;
  • When you contact Canatal Customer Service or any employees or professionals of Canatal;
  • When you visit the Canatal website or make transaction on said website;
  • When you provide Canatal with comments or suggestions;
  • When you apply for a job at Canatal.

Use of personal information

Canatal may use personal information to:

  • Identify customers, employees and suppliers to establish and maintain a relationship with them;
  • Provide customers with ongoing service, to ensure proper services and to better support customers when using our services;
  • Improve our product and service offerings;
  • Provide customers with information about other products and services provided by Canatal that may be of interest to them;
  • Protect against error and fraud;
  • Comply with legal and audit requirements;
  • Send information regarding new job opportunities at Canatal and other career development resources.

Canatal may also use personal information to create statistics about its company.  These statistics do not contain information that could personally identify any individual customer, employee or supplier.

Other uses of personal information

In the event that all or part of Canatal’s assets were sold or financed, or if Canatal were to merge with another company, personal information in the possession of Canatal could be disclosed to the lender, buyer or merger partner, provided such personal information were to be used in strict compliance with the Canatal privacy Policy.

Transfers to agents and third parties

Some of the products and services that are provided by Canatal may be provided by third parties in cooperation with Canatal.  In order to provide you with the products or services that you request from us, Canatal may have to transfer information about you to these third parties.

Where Canatal transfers personal information to third parties for processing on behalf of Canatal, Canatal shall enter into an agreement containing appropriate privacy protection terms before any information is transferred to the third party.  These terms must provide that the third party will not use the personal information for its own purposes, will keep the personal information secure, and will only process the information on the instructions of Canatal.

In addition, using certain third-party products to purchase products or services from Canatal may require us to provide your personal information to third parties in order to process the transaction.

You may be asked to provide suitable identification or to otherwise identify yourself.

In some circumstances, the withdrawal of consent to certain uses or disclosures of personal information may mean that Canatal is no longer able to provide you certain products or services.

Record retention of personal information

Canatal will only retain personal information for as long as it is necessary to process related transactions.

All personal information collected by Canatal is protected by security measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the information.  All personal information stored in electronic form, including all information collected through the website of Canatal, is kept in confidential and secure data banks.  Canatal evaluates its equipment and security procedures regularly and modifies them if required, so it can remain at the leading edge of security technology.

Amendments to policy

Should Canatal amend this Policy, Canatal will post the entire revised statement on its website.  If Canatal makes substantial changes to the way it collects personal information, Canatal may also notify you in other ways by sending you an e-mail, posting a note on the homepage of its websites or in its places of business.
